Three of My Favourite German Sayings
Hallo! Wie geht es euch?
I have a new found love for German sayings! I’ve been collecting some of my favourites since August started! It’s actually really interesting to see how similar some of the sayings are, but some of them are also vastly different.
Here are three of my favourite sayings so far: “Auch eine verregnete Nacht ist voller Sterne” “Even a rainy night is full of stars” This is very similar to “every cloud has a silver lining”. Essentially it means that in times of adversity, there is always hope and there are always positives. I like this quote because it reminds me A Court of Thorns and Roses (anyone else?)
“Übung macht den Meister” “Practice makes a master” This is the German’s version of “Practice makes perfect”! I think this useful is so useful, especially when learning a language!
“Anfangen ist leicht, Beharren eine Kunst” “Starting is easy, persistence is an art” I think this one is pretty self-explanatory but I love it because just like “Übung macht den Meister” it can be so useful in the context of learning a language!
I hope this helped you guys! Some of them I got from my good friend @cherryxlaw ! Vielen Dank Cherry!
