☕️High Tea Memories ☕️Back from my trip to England 2016 #studyabroadperks (at Westminster Abbey)
Eggs and bacon .. Just like from Howl's moving castle! Served at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan. I got some cool souvenirs, too. .. #LeecieGoesAbroad #studyabroadperks #ghiblimuseum #eggsandbacon #howlsmovingcastle #mitaka #Japan (at Ghibli Museum)
カフェバス ー 自由ヶ丘 Cafe Bus Muraccio in Jiugaoka .. Found this cute little cafe while shopping around Jiugaoka today. I had an iced cinnamon apple latte and my friend had a sparkling iced tea. Both of the drinks were so refreshing! Never had anything like it and the tea even came with a cute straw ❤ I want to definitely go back to try other drinks😋 .. #LeecieGoesAbroad #localbusiness #studyabroadperks #jiugaoka #coffee #cafebus #TokyoJapan #localvendors #localeats #japan #JapaneseEatery #eatlocal #chooselocal #localleecie (at Cafe Bus Muraccio)
TRIP, TRIP, TRIP!!!!!!!!
Yayyyy today is the day I get to leave for my trip to Dublin, London, and Brussels with two awesome people! The only downer to my day is I still have to go to class, take a Danish oral midterm, and talk about my ideas for my next design project...which I haven't done yet...oops. But at least it's sunny out? and 23F? It's okay I'm not letting that stuff get me down. I've spent my time between studying planning out where we will go, printing tickets, checking in, and making sure I have money to travel. Oh and I've spent a good amount of time trying to pack my life into one duffel bag....Some of the airlines we're traveling by have a strict 1 handbag carry-on. It's not like the 1 carry-on and 1 personal item at home. Nope, you get charged for that. So I have to pack for like 4 or 5 days and make that last all ten. Maybe I'll be a little smelly, but maybe I don't care because I'M GOING ON VACATION!!!!!!!!!
The weather isn't supposed to be that great for Dublin this weekend, but it's an improvement from Cph. I'll take raining and 36 over windy, snowy, and 23 any day. We're going to try and go to a club rugby game (cheaper) on Saturday, and do all of the touristy things we can like the Guinness Factory, Trinity College, Temple Bar, and maybe even the National Leprechaun Museum (yes it exists!!!)
We get to London Monday evening and we're staying with some friends out in Twickenham. And you can be sure that we will take a picture at every cliche tourist spot we can and go to the London eye, and maybe some museums, and be good students and go to Christopher Wren's St. Paul's Cathedral.
In Brussels it'll just be two of us for four days with amazing chocolate, waffles, fries, and beer. Food, food, FOOD! Ah it's going to be great and might even reach 50! Oh and then we're going to be excellent students and go see the Tassel House and Horta Museum. Yay Art Nouveau!!
After all that, I expect to have thousands (literally) of pictures to edit and share with all of you! Can you tell that I'm excited yet?? If not let me say it again: I'M GOING ON VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Presents are great
Every college kid loves care packages. They're a staple, a must, and normally at school in Philly I rarely get them. The only packages I get are once in a while from my Aunt Lisa (Love you!), and the fabric, wood, metal, glass, plastic samples I order all the time for my projects because I hoard them. But now that I'm abroad everybody wants to send me stuff! It's great for me, a little expensive for them, but overall everyone seems to be happy about it. Last week was Valentine's Day and I got four, yes FOUR, care packages from lovely people back home.
My mom sent some of the essentials that I forgot to pack like my cold gear for playing ultimate, my cleats, a travel bag, and my travel coffee mug. She also included snack bars and a few vday goodies, chocolate of course! I unfortunately don't have a picture of everything she sent me, but I have pictures of my other two! But thanks mom!
My dad texted me one day and asked for my address and then told me that packages (plural) would be arriving soon. The first I received on vday and it was a carton of Kinder eggs. For those of you who are unaware of this chocolatey awesomeness, you have the FDA to thank. Kinder eggs are not allowed in the US because inside each egg is a small capsule with a cool little toy in it. The FDA is scared children will eat said toy. Scandinavia isn't as worried about their children because kinder eggs are sold in abundance over here. Which is why it is a bit strange that my dad would send a carton of them??? But either way I loved it and am trying to eat them sparingly, all I really want is the toy, duh.
The next package from my dad came this past Monday, and it was full of snack food and other american college foods. My dad read my homesick post and told me that even though I really want eggplant parm, he can't send that so he thought he'd send a ton of junk food for me to fill up on. Thanks dad!
The last package I got on Valentines Day was my present from my wonderful boyfriend. He also knew I was missing home (and him...a lot) so he sent me a variety of items to give me the best valentines present ever. I wasn't allowed to open the package though until I was home and we could skype, but this is what I opened up.
And then at the bottom of the box was a sleeve of pictures for me to put up on my walls, some of us, some that Tony took, and some that I took. Don't hate me for my corniness. I love it and couldn't have asked for a better present. Thank you baby!
So when you're abroad, make sure you ask everyone to send you things (since none of them will come visit)!
