#studyinukraine ✨Merry Christmas from the Ukrainian State Center for International Education On January 7️⃣, Eastern Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas - one of the main religious holidays💫 Many traditions and customs of Ukrainians are related to Christmas. In particular, on Christmas eve, during the Holy Evening, the whole family gathers at the table with 1️⃣2️⃣ fasting meals. Among them are kutia, borsch, fish, mushrooms, cabbage varenyky, potatoes and uzvar. 🔹This evening is also when caroling begins. It is one of the main Ukrainian traditions for the New Year and Christmas holidays. 🔹🎶Christmas carols are small songs with wishes of well-being. In return, homeowners give carolers gifts. Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Dr. Olena Shapovalova congratulates all those who celebrate this holiday: 💬“I sincerely congratulate all those who celebrate Christmas tomorrow! May this majestic holiday bring you hope and faith, optimism and confidence, kind thoughts and good deeds, as well as joy for the whole year!
