I got tagged by study-ninja! (Oh my gosh, thank you! I didn't even realize anyone knew me well enough in this community to tag me!)
1. If you knew that you couldn’t fail, what career would you pursue?
Does Starfleet officer count? Honestly, what I'm going for right now - researching the psychology of incredible individuals who thrive in extreme environments.
2. What motivates you to study?
Upbeat music, the sense of accomplishment, my super-supportive roomie, and all my future dreams!
3. What is your favorite quote?
"I heard the universe as an oratorio sung by a master choir of stars, accompanied by the orchestra of planets and the percussion of satellites and moons. The aria they performed was a song to break the heart, full of tragic dissonance and deferred hope. Yet somewhere beneath it all was a piercing refrain of glory, glory, glory." - RJ Anderson, Ultraviolet
4. Do you have any learning disabilities? Any tips on how to overcome them?
No, so no. Sorry I can't help!
5. You find a lamp and a genie comes out and gives you three wishes, what would they be?
Guaranteed basic resources for my lifetime, that my loved ones may remain as healthy and safe as physically possible, and the chance to visit the stars.
6. What is your favorite book?
Don't really have a one favorite, but my favorite of the summer is The Martian by Andy Weir.
7. How long do you study each day?
It's not a regular thing. Over the summer, I'm studying about 3-ish hours a day for the GRE right now, but during the school year, I usually do about 2-ish hours a day outside of class during regular weeks. But during the two weeks before midterms and exams, I will study anywhere between 7-12 hours a day.
8. What part of your studies do you like the least?
Probably the pseudo-science. Psychology can be a strong science, heavily based on empiricism, but unfortunately the understanding of the empiricism that should outline psychology has been contaminated by bad theories, sensationalism, and so forth. Even respected professors have been known to go by "gut" instead of following any sort of "evidence", and that's so frustrating to deal with.
9. What snacks would you recommand when one has cravings?
Peanut butter on crackers or fruit, sandwhiches, or nuts!
10. How many school supplies have you bought but ended up not using?
Mostly notebooks. I stick to my laptop most of the time. But honestly, I use most of what I buy - in fact, I buy such a bare minimum that I keep "making do" instead of buying what I actually need!
11. When you are having a hard time concentrating on studying what do you do?
Play my favorite upbeat music playlists, take a walk, or try again tomorrow! I always always have free days built into my schedule for study block days!
