Appetizers (Crispy Yellowfin Tuna & Pork Belly Pinchos, Louisiana Wagyu Beef Belly, Shrimp & Tasso Henican) (shared all), Café Pierre Lacquered Texas Quail, Turtle Soup au Sherry, Desserts (Creole Bread Pudding Souffle, Cookie’s & Cream, Parfait)(shared all). Commander’s Palace. New Orleans, Louisiana. 7.8.2021.
NOTE TO SELF: Tumblr apparently only allows 10 images per post, so I'm breaking this one up into two. (The fact that there's so many images required to document this meal is a pretty good indication of what kind of feast I netted here.) The complimentary smoked salmon bite to start the meal may have been my favorite bite. But...that beef belly...or the turtle soup. I don't know man. Nothing was bad. If I have to rank the dishes:
Pinchos (this is the only one I would rather trade out for something else on the menu.)
The quail -- while it's clearly cooked and seasoned, it otherwise looks like an untouched bird, but it's been completely deboned except for the little drumsticks. And there's boudin inside. So you can easily cut right into it and there are no bones. Great flavor.
Turtle soup -- Tastes almost like a rich vegetable beef soup, but with the texture of a chili.
This is gluttonous in the best way. I'll cover desserts in the next post.
Currently ranked first of nine July meals.
