The autumn festivities have begun and I wanted to share a simple and very photogenic dessert.
I call this the Caramel Stuffed Apple
Chopped Walnuts/Almonds (Optional)
Butter Waffle Cookies (Crushed) (Optional)
Chocolate Syrup (Optional)
Wash the apple thoroughly and cut off the top of the apple (about 1 inch from the top of the apple).
Core the apple by making it hollow (by using a knife and a spoon to scoop out the insides of the apple).
Coat the bottom of the inside of the apple with nutella (around a tablespoon).
Splash the inside walls of the apple with some caramel sauce.
Scoop generous servings of vanilla ice cream into the apple.
Crush a butter waffle cookie into smaller pieces and use both the waffle cookies and chopped walnuts/almonds for garnish.
Finish the dessert off with a drizzle of caramel sauce and chocolate syrup.
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Mix the brown sugar, half-and-half, butter, and salt in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook while whisking gently for 5-7 minutes until it gets thicker.
Add the vanilla and cook another minute to thicken further.
Turn off the heat, cool slightly and pour the sauce into a jar. Refrigerate until cold.
