Bonnaroo Bound
We're getting ready to head out to Bonnaroo on Wednesday night and couldn't be more excited for this year's lineup. We got our wrist bands ready, our stunner shades lined up and a nice briefcase of giveaways for the lucky soon to be Stunners we meet along the way.
The lineup this year has an awesome mix of old talent and new that bring out a lot of different flavors so we can ho-down and drop it like its hot. We are psyched for such throwbacks as:
1. Ms Lauryn Hill - She may have gone off the deep end for a while but you can't argue with her talent. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is still one of my favorite albums (and can we get a shout out for Sister Act II?). So here's hoping she keeps it together at the 'roo because we will always love that thing you do Lauren.
2. Ice Cube - say whaaat? Back in the game. He may be old, but stunnin' ain't dead and neither is old school hip-hop. Happy to see he is stepping off the screen and back onto the stage. Let everyday be Friday.
3. Pusha T - Cause "Beef is best served like Steak." Big ups to Pusha T for bringing a little old school rap back to the scene.
4. Kanye - The man we love to hate is gracing Bonnaroo this year. What can we say, he puts on a good show and the last time we saw him was w/ Riri in SanJo circa the Graduation tour. Besides, he does stun hard.
5. Andrew Bird - We've had the pleasure of seeing Andrew Bird live a couple of times and this man is incredibly talented. A true one man band he knows how to jam out and we can't wait to see what new sound he brings to the stage this year. He brought his Stunners back in '06
6. Yonder Mountain String Band - Bringing the bluegrass flavor, we got our cowboy boots ready and are pumped to mix it up for a knee slapping ho-down with these boys.
Then there are the new favorites we can't wait to test out live:
1. Sam Smith - I was lucky enough to see him at the Vic in Chicago, right after his SNL performance. Hard to believe he's only 22 - the boy can sing, and with so much heart(break). He just released US tour dates and most of his shows sold out in a matter of minutes. Catch him if you can, before he blows up - you will not regret it!
2. Chance the Rapper - The Chicago rapper has gained a lot of recognition in the past year and we are excited to check out his juice.
3. First Aid Kit - This Swedish female duo has created a country folk sound that is sure to kill it on stage.
4. Valerie June - This spunky chick with a Rockabilly vibe has caught our attention and we think she's gonna bring it for Bonnie.
5. Little Dragon - For some British Indie rock out goodness.
6. St. Paul & The Broken Bones - This soul band from Alabama has us dancing in our seats. Can't wait to get some stunners to their crowd.
The ones who have already won our ears and our hearts:
1. The Arctic Monkeys - These guys have blown up big since their start in 2002 and we are excited to finally rock out to their sound live.
2. Chromeo - We love to dance.
3. Broken Bells - When Dangermouse and James Mercer came together for this collaboration we fell in love. We will be sure to go pay our respects to our Indie fav.
4. Janelle Monae - This lady is a firecracker - the very definition of an entertainer. At the very least, go see her so you can marvel at her crowd surfing while keeping her pompadour in tact. We cannot wait for her to dance all over our faces.
5. James Blake - The man has talent and a unique sound. We will be sure to catch his set for a chill vibe and some good tunes.
Finally, we will be stopping by the comedy tent for some laughs with Hannibal Buress, the Ladies from Broad City (Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer), and Craig Robinson.
If you're out out at Bonnaroo this year, come and find us. We will have a bag of stunners and some promo codes waiting for you. May the Stunt be with you Dear Bonnie.
