After several weeks of expensive tests, scans, and labwork, all of the usual suspects were ruled out. Was not tendonitis like I thought, Doctor was convinced was a clot. Ultrasound said no clot. Had to be venous, then, so cut my secret garden open to do an angiogram and yep, not venious. Bone fragment causing the foot to swell? Xrays say Nope. Oh shit... liver or kidney complication? Not what the blood screen says, but....
We did figure something out. Was instructed this last week to go home and have a couple drinks, which I did (and by a couple, I mean I decided to be extra smart and had about half a bottle of Bushmills), and sure as crap, by Sunday morning my foot had swelled up like a pineapple and I couldn't walk again. Did immeadiate blood labs, and guess what...
Edema. The long-term use of omeprazole has somehow caused my body to retain water via the tops of my feet whenever I have alcohol now. Quite excruciatingly, I might add. What an absolute gift. I am just today to where I can put pressure on my foot and not have it feel like it's about to split open.
Oh, and to add total insult to injury? This is a relatively uncommon side effect, and usually only happens in younger females. So not only am I a girl now, I have to drink like one, too.
Welcome to getting old.
