Food Drive Tiiiime

The first year, my roommate and I were a force to be reckoned with, personally gathering and paying for 3/4 of the total amount of 1,542 food items to be donated to charity.

The second year, the rest of the company took us seriously as a threat and while my group didn’t win, I was considered an honorary food drive champ because the winning team only beat us by running out in the last hour to buy 600 boxes of the cheapest thing solely to beat my team. Not even mad (although I apparently forgot to take pictures of the pile).

This year... I’m a little bit tight on funds, what with multiple rather urgent trips to the dentist. And we’re competing as a company, against other companies. And the time devoted to the drive has been cut in half--last two years, we collected over the course of a month, this year it’s 10 days.

Day one: 20 turkeys, 240ish cans of assorted veg and cranberry sauce, 20 boxes of stuffing mix, and I forgot to count the mac and cheese because I was here early and needed coffee before my shift actually started. I personally was responsible only for 8 of the turkeys and 24 cans of the veg.

If I didn’t think it would seem really super skeevy, I’d be posting ways to donate money to buy food for this right now. I am tapped out.
