a quiet place theaters

Few places strike me as more contagion abetting than theaters.  Worse A local brewery posted pictures of their live concert crowd gyrating frenetically in each other’s personal spaces Friday evening. Horror Show IRL  The news showing airports crowded with arrivals packed shoulder to shoulder waiting to be tested.  Any given doctor’s office or emergency waiting room, that’s...Shudder Island material.

Having said all that (sorry) this this THIS advertising in particular offends me on multiple levels and it’s Monday so...

First of all A Quiet Place was a movie for dumb people.  No no no, I’m not saying it was a dumb movie aimed at people who enjoy dumb movies.  While I despise them, the obviously Dumb and Dumber genre is an art form.  Movies that make fun of themselves with a wink and a nod can even be quite sophisticated.  Of course the B-grade movie, unintentionally dumb and unaware of it, is what it is because it was the best that could be made under the circumstances, usually due to lack of talent, budget, or intelligent design.  

It seemed to me, “A Quiet Place” was unintentionally dumb at every turn and because it was so dreamily filmed with beautiful actors, people in general, seemed not to notice.  Almost like how you are helpless to accept bizarre circumstance in a dream.  I’m going to resist expressing my opinion about the people who will go to see AQP II except to say, we can be friendly but we can’t be friends.

To say I’ve thought about the obvious and yet unacknowledged stupidity in A Quiet Place and others, or the obvious (to me) misogyny in the new Wonder Woman would be understating it, by a lot.  My stream of consciousness is a parade of intense but evolving obsessions interspersed with constant new observations. Writing them down is sometimes the best way to end the logic loops.  Thusly, Tumblr is a bit of “my diary” therapy for me.   Tons of things get written and never posted.  You’re welcome. lol

Anyway!  As I said, this particular ad placement offends me on multiple levels.  The first, being dumb movies unacknowledged as such (here’s looking at you Prometheus) is so pervasive to me that I’ve become mostly inured to it.  HOWEVER COMMA (good blog name don’t you think?)

They put this stupid ad for this stupid movie on a box of my favorite beer!  This favorite beer is being sold for the first time in 16oz cans and I could not leave the fucking thing on the shelf!!!!  So now who’s dumb and dumber?

I was today years old when I learnt people refer to piss kink as water sports??? I just randomly came across a fic and was like "why would you give a trigger warning for water sports?" for people who are scared of doing athletic activities in water like DUH is what I thought before actually googling it and seeing what it means 😭

i was about to post "y'all are lucky i speak in a mildly coherent language and not the way thought pop up on my brain" but...are you?

are you lucky to be able to understand the things i (and many others) are saying? would it be better to live in blissful ignorance of the stupid thoughts that make another random tumblr user want to scream into the void?

would it be worse if it went silent? would it leave you empty and wishing for those random shitposts that just spam stuff like "butter" at 4AM?

This show is written by black and poc and is carried by a black lead and shows in a blunt way how overbearing full of themselves white men can act.

The moment John Walker only raised his hand in order to touch Ayo I knew where this was leading and they are right to show and to let the Dora Milage fight him with every might.

This show is fully intended in showing what racism and sexism looks like.

Even in the micro ways and if you're seeing that as a distraction you're fucking part of the problem.

They are not perfect but between the lines and also very unsubtle this is a good representation of white supremacists and how to hopefully take them down one day.
