Character solidifying meme: 1, 7, 12, 23, 38, 42 (numbers chosen at random)

1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?

Stella has almost literally no memories of Joe. He didn't die directly in WW1 but of long-term effects of mustard gas (no idea if thats a thing tbh) so he was in fact around for a little while, but not for so long that she actually mourned or even knew him that well. She remembers that he smelled of applesauce, and he had a very strong accent, even if she never remembers him saying anything in particular -- she doesn't actually know what's real and what has been told to her, in fact. As she grew up, she had periods where she resented him for not being there to help her mother, who was struggling to hold a job, but deep down she doesn't have much feelings towards him, other than a respect for his being a soldier. Her mom says she has his smart-ass attitude, and that she looks like him, so there's that.

7. What was the economic status of their family?

Yo they were poor as shit. Stella actually shared a room with her mother for the longest time, until Sarah was like 'okay girl this ain't gonna work if you're gonna be a moody teenager' and things were arranged, like around 12/13ish. But Sarah Rogers worked herself to the bone and Stella would try to earn money on her own to help, especially since she felt so guilty about her medecines and art classes. She had an 'uncle' who was Sarah's best friend as a kid who is in the mob and he would sometimes force them to accept money, but it rankled both of them. Stella actually worked for him for a period when she was in art school. But yeah, a lot of second-hand books and clothes and shoes and everything.

12. How does their education and intelligence – or lack thereof - reflect in their speech pattern, vocabulary, and pronunciations?

Oh boy; okay so Stella is actually smart okay, don't doubt this, but she speaks like a fucking heathen. She swears really often -- although this was less visible since she went on the USO tour, where she wasn't allowed, although once she was in the army it came back twicefold -- and uses a lot of slang, and slang from all over, meaning that there's some new york slang but also slang from the people around her, so this means that in the 40s there was a lot of irish slang etc. Her accent is hella strong do not let Chris Evans fool you, when she is angry its just like BAHIHAHAHAHARHGH. Except for when she's giving orders, at which point she is very calm and even.

23. What do they want from a partner? What do they think and feel of sex?

This is gonna sound hella lame im a total amateur ;; anyways Stella is like, kinda looking for an equal, kinda looking for a challenge?? IDK MAN she's annoying like she doesn't want to settle down at first, she's dynamic and she wants to go OUT lets go for a walk, see a movie, go dancing, get lunch or coffee or go skateboarding go to the fair idfk, and then after things kinda cool down and she's like hey lets watch snow white in pajamas ill make pie it'll be awesome!!! Anyways, for Stella sex isn't necessarily romantic like she's down for fwb or whatever she's just very platonic in everything she does, romance isn't really a thing for her unless it's TRUU LOOVE like half the time she doesnt even know if she's dating someone or just bffs, but yes sex can either be like for the lulz or else //LOVEYDOVEY don't ask me these questions im like twelve leave me alone

38. Are they basically negative when facing new things? Suspicious? Hostile? Scared? Enthusiastic?

This is the girl who looked at the giant metal box being powered by electricity from an entire city block and a man in suspenders and was like yEAH LETS GET INSIDE IT AND TRY IT OUT she is suspicious of everything but that doesn't stop her from being enthusiastic about it she's a dumbass

42. What does your character want most? What do they need really badly, compulsively? What are they willing to do, to sacrifice, to obtain?

Okay so like i think that in order to live on a day to day basis she needs basic human contact/relations, like she needs friends and coworkers and neighbours and people to talk to. She is also very bad at this, which is why her only friend is a dirty cat who lives on her fire escape (jkjk). But in life in general she needs a purpose, which is either personal or larger than herself or sometimes both. Idk??

Yarn and fabric. Steph tends to make a lot of her clothes rather than buy them, unless it's a formal dress or a skirt she just loves and knows she won't be able to find a similar fabric pattern for. She knits quite a bit, too. She actually has a wall in her apartment that is just a rainbow wall of yarn.

Stephanie takes one look at Jamie and she's gently pushing her friend onto the couch and moving toward the kitchen. The blonde keeps a sharp eye on her friend as she waits for the water to heat. The only time she takes her eyes off the brunette is when she has to grab a cup and the tea bag. Soon enough she's got  a tray with milk and sugar sat beside a tea cup in her hands and she's setting it in front of Jamie.

"I can't remember how you take your tea, doll. Remind me? Just milk, or is it just sugar?"
