Australian Government Discrimination

I really do not understand this country and  it's politics. (Australia) The majority of this country is for equal marriage. Is for gay rights and is for acceptance. And yet, this country still doesn't seem to be able to get any of that off the ground. In my opinion, gay rights shouldn't even be a thing. It should just be human rights. There is no difference. But - because some homophobes decide that being homosexual means that you can't have full rights, this means that gay rights, has to exist.

There should be no debate on whether or not I can marry a man. It shouldn't be controversial. I shouldn't even have to 'come out'. Being gay should never have to be a secret, it should never even be assumed that someone is straight. A person should be able to wake up everyday, and not have to change themselves to fit the norms.

We don't live by procedure, we decide what right by whats right. Not whats written. We evolve past our outdated norms and dispositions, we don't exclude people based on footnotes of exodus..

Our country at the moment is going through an enormous 'No Bullying' scheme. But how are kids supposed to accept others, when the people running the country can't even do the same. Don't go telling kids to stop discrimating, when you are doing the exact same thing.

Yelling 'Faggot!' in the playground is discrimination. Not giving gays their rights is discrimination.

There is no difference.
