update: my betty will be slightly canon divergent, but i will not be erasing mental illness from her characterization. i believe strongly that it’s part of who she is as a person and as a character. the only divergent parts of my betty will be the way her mental illness is handled, and my own added quirks to make her feel a bit more real. if you choose to ignore betty’s mental illnesses, that is entirely your decision to make and i respect it. as for me, i relate to her too closely to be able to do that to her character. regardless, this is tumblr where we write our characters as we see fit. no one is completely trapped within canon! so please, let’s all remember why we’re here and give betty the love she deserves whether you do it with or without canon.
