When the Shoptiques' team sat down with Abbey Brandon of District Dress Up, we were star struck by her outgoing personality, grace and out of this world sense of style! Abbey's personal blog features casual and young-professional looks that are styled and conceptualized by her personal inspirations. To us, she is the ultimate smart fashion entrepreneur we adore!

The worlds of film, fashion, literature and everything in between are abuzz with Baz Luhrmann’s cinematic adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, scheduled for release this Christmas.

Since the book was intitially published in 1925, Nick, Jay, Daisy and the rest have appeared in five movies: one silent, one unavailable due to “copyright reasons,” one critically acclaimed (with a Coppola script, of course), one mediocre made-for-TV version, and a loosely based take about a Hip-Hop mogul…a very loose take, we would guess.

Judging by the attention surrounding Luhrmann’s attempt with the premiere still six months on the horizon, this may be the biggest yet.

And, with Lurhmann’s films known for their stunning visuals, the fashion world is already feeling reverberations (indeed, Style.com references the film in their Spring 2012 trend report, ‘Deco Echoes’).

After locks on flowing locks from past StyleStarters like the Olsen twins and Georgina Chapman, we felt the time was right to give a pixie-clad starlet some recognition. We cannot think of a better girl than Ginnifer Goodwin, formally of oh-so-feminine gentle waves, now of a fiercely androgynous crop, to serve as our example (To clarify, we mean ‘fiercely’ in a Tyra Banks sense crossed over with a touch of punk.).

Goodwin reportedly made the commitment to the cut when she sought more attention for her roles in Walk the Line and HBO’s Big Love. Not that she needed the makeover to help her out—her performances have been widely acclaimed both “Before” and “After.” 

She balances out the masculine element flawlessly, often opting for feminine A-line and pencil cut dresses, although she told People that she can wear far more with short hair than she could with long hair. 

Whether her claim is true or not, we love the edgy-meets-girl-next-door look that Goodwin does so well.
