Last day of New York Fashion Week SS2013.
My overall reflections:
Although, I didn't get to photograph any shows this season because i was too busy on other fashion projects, that didn't stop me from watching the shows from my seat.
In the end I've my top 3 favorite Fashion Designers and collections, I hope you do too!
Trends for SS2013: florals, lace, brocades, bright colors, such as Pinks, blues and Yellows, Black/Whites and Geometric shapes
Style: Others decided to stick to pastels for a more feminine and classic look.
From Punk color extensions and Mods that go clean in blacks whites.
Some designers have chosen to still try to fit back into the 50s flare. But only a few get it right.
Fashion week is for the artists, celebrities, fashion aficionados who get a high of the excitement of the models, clothes, attitude and everything else that unfolds that world that only a certain type can handle.
But in the end the buyers want the front sit of the house to do their homework and prepare their must have list; their goal is to find the clothes that will sell and help keep the Designers and store in the game.
Observations: There was rockers, innocent floral Hampton babes with Audrey Hepburn dashes. Geometric asian flare on must runways, but this is nothing new only a few brought something new for the steady audience.
Fashion designers continue to struggle trying to be different, but in the end only a few made a fashion mark. Clothing is about the fit of the body, the psychology of the character that illustrates a style that comes most of the time from the fashion streets where designers keep borrowing ideas to come up with fresh ones.
Best quote I came across this week, which saids it all. "hustle all you can. Just don't forget: Around here, the moment it begins is the moment it ends."
I hope those who watched it live or on the sidelines enjoyed was to come for SS2013
But New Yorkers will have to face tomorrow the harsh truth, to get ready their wardrobes for fall.
