TL;DR - I did a style/technique study of one of my biggest influences and inspirations: Bryan Lee O'Malley @radiomaru . (If you want, theres a large post to read on) . So, hi, hello, I've been really quiet on social media lately. I've been busy with school and everything but, mostly, I lost motivation to really do anything. I found that doing anything remotely art and illustration related just wasn't exciting. The past four months have been me kind of in this slump, just going through the motions. For a while. I kind of found no reason to really even TOUCH my supplies because I knew I wasn't going to be able to muster up the energy to create anything. I mean, sure, I still made work but it just didn't feel good. Well, now, it's the end of the Winter Semester at Grand Valley and I've been mostly rushing through all of my projects and largely neglecting my priorities. But, it came for me to work on my final project: a style/technique replication of an illustrator of choice. Without hesitation, I chose to study Bryan Lee O'malley's work; his work being a major influence on my own made choosing him a no-brainer. I decided to study O'malley's character sketches and get a general feel for his methods and process, trying my best to really get into it, and, to be frank, making this piece just felt really good to do. I was legitimately excited to be making work for the first time in months and it was great! So, in other words, I'm slowly regaining motivation to draw again and I'm excited to see what work I can put out (hopefully a lot over this break). #illustration #drawing #stylestudy #schoolwork
