I thought I’d share some of my star sea cosplay progress so far, because this blog is both my love of dress up games and styling that I do in real life!

There are some differences you might notice in my design vs the actual thing because I’m still working on it/ my level isn’t on the same par as the star sea. I’m still having SO much fun with it though! Hope you enjoy my progress photos :D

Explanation for some of my choices here:

Photo 1) base of the skirt. I have only 2/5 of the tiers needed. Haven’t had time to go and get the rest of the fabric since I’m in the middle of final exams right now. But once this semester is over I’m gonna go buy more!

Photo 2) when I started adding stars to the dress.

Photo 3) when I finished the bottom layer cos I can’t really progress on any of the other tiers.

Photo 4) the bodice. Having so much fun drafting the patterns, changing it, and seeing what does and does not work. At first I wanted the dress to be purple, but I’m colorblind and bought lots of blue instead. So I’m going to slowly incorporate purple with the guidance of my family to tell me what color is what (lol!) but having the front one color and the back another is a good way to begin that integration :)

Photos 5 and 6 are pictures from the Shining Nikki rendition of star sea. Is this spoilers? I’ll tag it like that just to be safe.

Truly a fun process that made me remember how much fun styling and creating is. Haven’t done much art since I got outta highschool so I’ve missed it!

Won’t be able to work on this much more until after exams, so expect more later!

Suddenly got inspired by the ballerina dress and made Princess Tutu and Kraehe from princess tutu!

Princess tutu is a good magical girl anime that I remember watching when I was very young. It was my first anime that wasn’t pokemon! Definitely drew me into the world of anime.

Nikkimi in punk outfits!

Inspired by Kimis pastel harajuku outfit and me going “hey what if Nikki had an outfit too and they had a punk photo shoot?”

Mixed the beautiful Helz dress and hat with the accessories I pulled from the recent event. They fit so well together- and I got the reflection!!

“Hey, come look at the flowers over here!!”

Nikki, Momo, and you all go to observe the beautiful trees when they bloom. Nikki immediately pulls your hand and asks you to take millions of photos in the dress Yexiao designed. She has a great time, and you try your best to get some great shots!
