The Su-47 Berkut (Golden Eagle) was a 4.5th to pre-5th generation experimental technology demonstrator aircraft that first flew in 1997. It is notable for its distinctive forward-swept wings, designed to enhance maneuverability at high angles of attack and improve short-field performance. It was a technology demonstrator for future Russian fighter designs. It did not enter production.
The Su-57 Felon is Russia's first 5th generation stealth multirole fighter jet with a twin-engine. Its maiden flight was in August 2019, but the first prototype was flying in 2010. Designed for air superiority and strike missions, emphasizing agility, speed (Mach 2 top speed), faster than some Western counterparts like the F-35, and a combat range of about 1,900 kilometers.
The Sukhoi Su-75 Checkmate unveiled in 2021. It aims to be a more affordable, export-oriented stealth fighter, offering a low-cost alternative to Western counterparts. Intended to be a 5th generation aircraft. It’s still being developed.
