September 17th, Keizer OR
Yesterday we took a drive to Silver Falls State park which has 9 waterfalls in it. We started at the upper north falls which had a nice fall flowing into a large pool. Then hiked to North Falls which has a trail that goes behind the falls (reminded us of falls in Alabama).
Then we hiked the rim trail to winter falls which was dry. After hiking back to the truck, we drove to South falls (the main entrance of the park) and hiked to that fall (which was not as impressive as the north fall). Total hiking was 5 miles.
We the drove to Silverton to the Silver City brewery for lunch and beer sampling. Excellent beer 🍺 and good food.
Next we drove to the Monastery in Mt. Angel to visit Benedictine Brewery. The town was celebrating Octoberfest and the Brewery, expecting crowds, was not doing flights. So we had a couple of pints, though we never saw the crowds!
Today smoke had moved into Salem. We drove west to Dallas to play pickelball and the air was clear there.
On the way back we stopped once again at Xicha brewery for lunch and beer. Yes, that is 3 times we have been there. Such a fantastic place and Bella got to go today.
We are supposed to get a big rainstorm late tonight and most of the weekend. Will see if it holds up to its expectations.
