Jesus christ, the last we see of Shard in these comics is him being on death’s door after Metal Sonic blew up right in front of him to damage his Power Gem, and him about to confess something to Nicole over the transmission. Its quite a downer end to the character, and I sure am gonna miss him.
Plus, there’s another case where a text bubble has been redone for some reason?
Sonic Universe #50 ends with Metal Sonic being rebuilt and sent off to do another mission, just in time to be used for the eventual crossover with the Mega Man comics. The end is pretty generic, because of course Metal Sonic’s always gonna be Eggman’s lackey and being sent out to destroy things. Damn Sega mandates...
Lol, Orbot and Cubot betting Metal being rebuilt again.
Someone give Tracy Yardley all of the praise, because his hand must have been cramping after pencilling this issue.
Seriously, the Shard and upgraded Metal Sonic fight is such a sight to behold!
Yeah, no amount of “you can be more than just a weapon” will ever persuade Metal Sonic to stop being a bad guy.
This Metal Sonic’s got the old Power Gem (a power source last used way back in Knuckles’ Chaotix), and apparently its so cool and powerful that...Eggman’s speech bubble has to be hastily rewritten and done in a completely different font?
Maybe its because Penders technically created the idea of a Metal Sonic power source?
Man, Sonic and the main cast are in a pretty sour place right now, considering he’s still looking back at past hedgehog villains and having a hard time thinking Shard is a “good guy”.
I’m all for shipping SallyXNicole, but I really must admit that Shard having an unrequited crush on the AI is pretty hecking cute, even if we never get to see the two interact much except for this issue.
