From @milanstylelive ・・・ Anyone who has followed my account for some time will know how much I love the South of Italy, and of course, within that, its tailoring traditions. It feels like a lifetime ago I first visited there now. Yet much of my initial knowledge of the region and the small-scale tailors and artisans of repute there, as someone who had only ever visited the North of Italy (where English is more widely spoken and therefore where things feel more accessible to a non-Italian), first came from reading 'The Bespoke Dudes' website, founded by Fabio Attanasio some years back. It was the first website I had ever seen with a younger guy making such clothes look contemporary. It was the first website I had ever seen with a guy of a similar mindset to me wearing bespoke in the way I wore it. I remember asking a mutual friend: "But does Fabio always dress so smartly with a suit, shirt and tie in real life everyday? Or just for Instagram?" (I know many womenswear bloggers who wear clothes purely for Instagram - I am not against that business model, it's highly entrepreneurial and a fun job, but of course it cannot be described as 'real')... "Yes, he really does, it's authentic", was the instant reply. Eventually I had the chance to meet him and we became friends. I can confirm he is a true gent, in the proper sense of the word, - exactly as you would imagine from his Instagram and website. (And yes he *does* always dress as smartly 'in real life' as the images you see of him everywhere online). So it feels like things have come full circle now and it's been a great honour to be invited to shoot for the eyewear brand he cofounded and feature in his campaign. I can't wait to see what his brand does next and I know he has big plans for this year too with his RTW Edesim tailoring line. Stay tuned.
