In another universe, a meeting happens much sooner.
Something I’ve wanted to try my hand at for a while, was these two meeting as kids. Even if it’s a one off meeting that neither quite remember by the time canon happens.

Why does Lucia have marks on her face? None of the other characters seem to have these? Is fur or whiskers or scars? Or because she’s shy, maybe? Thanks 😊
I don't remembered if she mentioned it on twitter or somewhere I can source easily, but I do know Purpah had said before that Lucia's cheek markings are just natural blemishes, not anything special like whiskers or fur.
If anyone has a link to where Purpah mentioned that please do reblog with it. I think it was part of the Q&A before the series was rebooted Sept 17th but I didn't actually think to get screencaps of that before it was deleted ;;>>
First set of References for the Labyrinth AU
We’ve got Lucia taking Sarah’s place as before, Kirsi and Reimund taking the place of Sarah’s dad & stepmom, and their kid taking Toby’s place
Alt Take
A little fic based on what I thought was going to happen at the start of episode 4
So, some notes on the update after reading it like 10 times now.
First off I love how the bucket of water is drawn, it's just so good, and it really feels like water.
Alright, so obviously this is around sundown, with the red highlights turning blue, and the sky as it goes on becoming starry. Given how bright it is I'd wager that it's a full moon, but that's probably not a big deal.
What is a big deal is how the darkness sets the tone for the scene. It's dark, it's grim people are on edge, scared by Modeus. I could feel the tension as I read it just from this one thing.
Yet even in the darkness we still have brighness in the highlights. Primarily on Modeus, but any of the characters out in the open (save for a few minor characters). This in itself gives off a softer feel to him and helps paint him as one of our main protagonists.
The only panel where he looks truly scary is from the page boy's pov and is justified since from what he can tell Modeus is terrifying. The rest? He's either stoic, awaiting orders or seemingly confused.
On the other hand, there's one character who through the whole thing gives me bad vibes, one if the two who have no highlights whatsoever. King Reimund enters the scene clapping, and through his whole bit, he's standing, sure and confident. Stuff like that normally wouldn't be an issue but given the lighting (or lack thereof) on him and his tone ("If anything it will be amusing" comes to mind coupled with his expression) it kinda gives him a villain vibe.
This isn't wholly unsurprising given some of Purpah's posts before starting the comic, but still plans can change so who knows.
Back to Modeus but its amazing seeing how delicately he's holding the rose, not bending it in his grip, just holding it. Even when he offers it to Lucia it's still gently, where she can weave her hand around his to grab it. It just tells me this romance is going to kill me cause it's so soft
One last detail that I really love, is how Purpah uses the leaves in the whitespaces of the comic to help define the mood. A slash of black leaves to incite fear, the lavender leaves when our lovers finally actually meet, shifting into a darker tone as Lucia greets Modeus and he offers the rose, then brightening as she accepts it.
It's just, really good.
my queue has run out so y'all get dumb headcanons from me to fill it till i can add some stuff
So food/Drink headcanons
Lucia seems to be the kind of person who favors sweeter foods and drinks but makes sure she has a healthy assortment of stuff on her plate, keeping the sweets for a treat
Lady Kirsi strikes me as having similar fancies but also having a secret love for sweet and sour together, like eating lemon tarts and drinking lemonade if she could.
King Reimund I feel like would be your classic meat and potatoes kind of guy, but also someone who could handle a decent deal of spice.
Sir Baynard probably eats healthily given his knighthood and physical needs. Drinking though, beyond water I could see him favoring a dry red wine.
I said before that Norrix looks like he'd live off coffee and I'm standing by that. He seems to be the kind of person who only eats cause he has to and not because he wants too. The only reasons there would be any seasoning or spice in his food is to make it palatable or he's eating with the nobles for some reason.
Modeus probably doesn't need to eat, but the image of him trying something Lucia gives him and it just, clanking inside of him is too funny to me.
switching down to one post a day for now but uhhh au ideas? for the modern au i sorta started thinking of b4
Thinking maybe it's at a college with King Reimund being like one of the deans or something. Kirsi's already married to him, but when a job opens up in like the arts department (or biology I could see Lucia doing both) she pulls some strings to help get her adoptive sister a job at the school
Norrix would be a professor who is only really there for research, not that into teaching or mentoring, takes the bare minimum of responsibilities in that department. He'x probably specialize in robotics and engineering as I said before.
It could be a mix of modern and magic since that's always cool too, and would keep the license to practice thing too. In that case I think Norrix would do research in merging magic and tech aince I could see the two as traditionally being kept separate.
In either case, Modeus would be the result of Norrix's work, intended to be an AI security guard, but ofc becomes more than that because he's also designed to be able to learn and adjust and that makes him more human than intended.
Sir Baynard and Peres, along with any knights and squires would serve as campus security. They're very proud of their work and take Modeus's presence and Norrix's work as an insult.
