Sub Accent - To The Stars
The ACCENTAPE series returns this winter with the label’s tenth cassette release. To mark the occasion, a new split was created, one side each, continuing the label’s aim to share music without limits of style, genre, or signature.
This time, Sub Accent, founder of the label, shares ACCENTAPE010 with his long-time friend Accou, an artist active in the Belgian experimental underground scene. His sound blends elements of ambient, sleep music, breakbeat, experimental, tribal, and neo-classical influences. The result is detailed and textured, with fluid synths and crafted rhythms that meet soft, layered melodies. Together, these four tracks bring a forward-looking and urban feel.
On side B, Sub Accent offers an EP shaped like the soundtrack of an imaginary science fiction film, with both bright and shadowy tones. It recalls early works from artists such as FUSE or Plastikman, exploring a futuristic and slightly dystopian world. Minimalist yet rhythmic, this part of the release moves through different atmospheres, from spacey and mental techno to energetic breakbeats, ambient passages, and metallic sound design.
