you really don't need to pinch doing SC either unless it's on someone very thin. saw a good post recently saying if you have a short needle meant for SC it will find the spot for you and it's true. i don't have enough loose skin anywhere that you can pinch me without it being very painful and i spent months being tortured by nurses for my injections for literally no reason at all

god why was i doing my injections on my abdoment this whole time? my thigh doesn't even hurt anymore and it's only been like 6 hours. when i do it on my belly it hurts for like a week.

PSA to nurses, caregivers and fat people everywhere:

if you're doing an abdominal injection on a fat person, you DO NOT have to pinch. doing so is unnecessary and may cause bruising. just slide the needle in at a 45 degree angle and it won't go anywhere near the muscle. stop torturing fat people's bellies today!

"1ml in arms, 2-3ml in legs for adults" how much if you're doing it in your stomach but don't have a lot of fat there?

these were talking about IM injection volumes, not sq injection volumes, just so we’re being clear.

in any one location,  between 1-2 ml is generally considered safe (depending on the source) (regardless of the amount of fat you have there, as long as you’re not significantly medically underweight- then I would tend to adjust that volume downward.)We also recognize ( that in the standard locations,  the subcutaneous tissue can absorb approximately 1ml a minute as an infusion (like an IV only directly into the fat instead), so any volume around 1ml wouldn’t be an issue for generally healthy  (even thin) people.
