I unofficially subleased from this guy (so the company that owns the apartment didn’t know about it) and I stayed there for two months. I paid for two months and six days rent due to a misunderstanding, but Ivthought that was okay. I still have one utility bill left but I guess the other person unofficially subleasing there skipped town without paying and now they’re trying to stick me with the entire utility bill. I feel bad for them but I don’t have the money for that...Idk what to do.......
How much is the bill? It’s not really your responsibility, I think that those on the lease officially should be the ones to pay if someone (not you) skipped out! You don’t have to feel bad for them, it’s not your fault or responsibility!
I’d argue that you don’t have to pay it, but since you’re not officially on the lease you might have to if they demand it. Can you pay your part of it? Small claims court might be too much of a hassle for a relatively small amount.– Mimi
