Mikoto has green eyes and fine features with a small, oval face. She has straight black hair that reach her shouders. She is taller than most women and has a muscular silhouette due to frequent sport activity. She likes to dress in blue, purple or grey and prefers to wear trousers, dresses and shoes with high or flat heels.
Mikoto is a calm person who seldom gets angry. She prefers to think before doing anything, always carefully, and doesn’t trust anybody easily. Mikoto also like to have things done as she wished and always work hard for this, being very demanding towards others and herself. When there is something that displeases her, she doesn’t hesitate to express it – directly or not – and makes all she can to solve what she thinks is an issue.
Mikoto is also a kind person who wants to help others the best way possible. She is regarded as a trustful and reliable woman. Mikoto also has her own way of thinking and is quite rigid, thus she isn’t afraid of giving her opinion and is a moralizer. She is pessimistic and always prepare to the worst. Being a very proud person, she doesn’t take criticism well, whether it’s justified or not.
Mikoto is a hard working student, which allowed her to attend to good schools. Having been doing judo since the age of 13, she is capable of self-defence and has a good stamina.
Mikoto also have heightened senses, which allows her to have precise informations that no normal person would know without special tools. It also allows her to find a person easier or have very accurate datas on her environment. It however took much time to Mikoto to control these, as when these abilities first appeared she couldn’t use it to her will. She has also been overwhelmed many times by all the informations her senses gave her. Even by now, she can feel unwell when she smells something or see microbs.
Mikoto’s parents are both Iranians who left their country after a change of regime. Her father was a brilliant researcher and her mother was a painter. Because her sister, who is five years older, and her were born in Japan, their parents gave them japanese first names, Hanabi and Mikoto, as they wanted their daughters to integrate. The parents being hardworkers always encouraged their daughters to do as well.
As a kid, Mikoto was shy and did not had many friends, except Shinra and Shizuo. She met the first through their respective fathers, who were colleagues, and the latter at school. However they were separated at middle school.
At age 13, two major changes happened in Mikoto’s life. Hanabi, who was an excellent student, left Japan to study in Berkeley. Two months later, her senses became heightened. The first days were unbearable for Mikoto, who lost sleep and apetite. But upon accepting this fact, she decided to work to control them and study her new abilities and the possibilities they offered. Meanwhile, Mikoto had also chosen to have a normal life and reach her goals. She began to do judo, which help her focusing on something else when her senses gave her too much informations. Mikoto didn’t forget her student occupation either and kept working seriously as well.
It took her two years to achieve this, becoming able to use it to her will rather than suffer from it. Moreover, her good grades allowed her to be accepted at Raijin high school. There, she was surprised to meet her childhood friends again. In this school she met Mikage, Kadota, Izaya and through Shinra she met Celty.
After high school Mikoto went to university. She studied to become a teacher, choosing maths with the goal to make understand and appreciate this subject to her future students. After four years she graduated and started working in a middle school. Although quite severe, Mikoto is also very respectful and nice towards her pupils.
Kimiya Rezai – Kimiya was a loving mother who was very proud of her daughters. Mikoto regarded her as the definition of kindness and admired her for her drawing skills. As a child, Mikoto loved to hear her mother telling her fantastic stories. Kimiya’s death, due to a heart attack, Mikoto had a depression during two months.
Ehsan Rezai – Ehsan loves his children dearly and educated them so that they’ll be good persons. Mikoto admires her father for his achievements and inherited her calm composure from him. Ehsan is one of the rare people whom Mikoto values his opinion without questioning and always listen to what he has to tell her, regardless of whether she agrees or not. However she is less a fan of his jokes.
Hanabi Rezai, AKA Anna Waterson – Being the elder, Hanabi believed she had a guidance duty towards her sister, always helping her out when there was a problem and wanted her respect as a payback. Although Hanabi was an egotistic and outgoing person, Mikoto loved her sister a lot and was very saddened by her departure to the USA. But shortly after she realised her sister was doing as she wanted and Mikoto promised herself to do the same, which gave her the strength she needed a few months later when she suffered from her heightened senses. Hanabi still lives in the USA with her husband and their two sons, James and Riley. Every year during August, they go to Japan to spend time with Ehsan and Mikoto.
Shinra Kishitani – Mikoto met him thanks to their fathers who have worked together. They also attended to the same elementary school and played a lot together. Although they are less close by now, they still remain on good terms.
Shizuo Heiwajima – Shizuo is one of Mikoto’s childhood friends. Shizuo appreciates her because she’s a calm and trustful individual. Mikoto always help him out with good heart and never tries to moralize him because she doesn’t want to upset him and admits that sometimes it’s not always possible to control everything around. Mikoto is very thankful towards as when she told him about her abilities he showed her support. Nowadays, Shizuo and Tom sometimes go see Mikoto when they cannot find one of their debt client.
Mikage Sharaku – Mikoto met her at high school. Upon watching Mikage performing one of her techniques, Mikoto asked her to teach her it. Mikage thus proposed her to join the gym club owned by her family, where Mikoto still goes to practise. They also hang out a lot together at school. When Mikage was kicked out of school, Mikoto unsuccessfully tried to defend her.
Simon Brezhnev – Simon and Mikoto are neighboors who get along well. Because of that, Mikoto often goes to his restaurant.
Mikoto means “precious” in japanese.
Her persian name is Laleh and means “tulip”. Her online nickname, Negin, is her sister’s persian name and means diamond.
She went once to Iran with her family when she was 11 but hasn’t planned on coming back there.
Mikoto’s favourite music are jazz and rock.

Hmm, I don’t see why her parents would change names to sound more Japanese if they were from Iran. If I were you, I’d look into Iranian names and make those names for the parents at least and probably the child who was born in Iran. The one born in Japan could still keep her name though
I also don’t know why they’d change names when they moved someone (Like Mikito’s sister) If I were you, I’d keep the name you have for her and not change it to an American name.
Also, be sure to add characters your’s has conflicts with since it sounds like she’s universally enjoyed by everyone. Like Shizuo might not agree with her attitude when she’s being demanding.
