i. How many works in progress do you currently have?
Currently, I have one WIP! I’m trying to focus all my energy on that one instead of branching out into other little wisps of ideas that sometimes pop up.
ii. Do you/would you write fanfiction?
I used to write fanfiction a lot. I still head-write some for different things I read/watch, but it’s more to get the creative juices flowing. I like being able to take established characters and put them in new settings, because it helps hone my world-building/plot-developing skills.
iii. Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?
PAPER! I read ebooks when it’s hard for me to take a physical book someplace, but I always have a hard time remembering what I read when it’s electronic. Holding a book in my hands makes the story stick better.
iv. When did you start writing?
I liked to tell stories in elementary school, but I really started writing them down in 6th grade. That’s also when I started picking out my own books and reading privately, so I tested out writing/reading a lot of different things to figure out what I liked best!
v. Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?
Goodness, yes! I’m part of an amazing writing group online with wonderfully talented ladies. I also share things with Jaden, because I like watching his face as he reads. (He doesn’t like it so much, but oh well!) :P
vi. Where is your favourite place to write?
I like writing on my couch or at my desk. I need to be in a quiet place with few distractions.
vii. Favorite childhood book?
Daaaang, I really hate “favorites” questions! My answers always depend on my mood, so I feel boxed in when I have to name an absolute favorite.
viii. Writing for fun or publication?
This is a difficult question... I want to say both? Writing is fun, but it’s a lot of work. I eventually do want it to be published (hopefully a series with my current WIP). However, I want to concentrate more on the writing process because you can’t publish something that isn’t finished!
ix. Pen and paper or computer?
Definitely the computer. Sometimes I’ll jot down notes on a sticky note to remember for later, but for the most part, I prefer typing. My stamina for physically writing is much less than typing. I feel like a get more accomplished at a computer.
x. Have you ever taken any writing classes?
Yes! My first class was Creative Writing in high school, and I’ve never looked back. I want to back to college at some point too, so I look forward to more opportunities.
xi. What inspires you to write?
I love the feeling of being able to create a whole new world, new rules, and exploring all types of possibilities in life through these characters. My readers and I can see so many things, experience things we never thought possible. Books were always a safe space for me to unwind and hide away from my real-life troubles, and I want to give that peace back to someone else.
