Success (Lost Copywritten Blog)
Each individual has their own interpretation of what success really is. Some like material things, wealth and the like. Others may enjoy having a full social life and the closeness of family and friends. Still others find joy and fulfillment in their works. What is success for you? I believe success is what brings a person a feeling of accomplishment after setting a set of goals and achieving those goals that have been set. Success can also be a state of mind. What brings a person the most fulfillment may be different for another person. Everybody doesn’t have the same idea when it comes to success.
Some may consider success in terms of money and wealth. Most certainly those who have gone through the rigors of any rise to success would feel a sense of accomplishment so, success is a sense of accomplishment. Success also usually has to do with goal setting. Usually some goal is put forward and it is up to the goal setter to accomplish the goals that were set. Therefore there is a level of attainment in goal setting. Most successful people have a plan or goals in mind before they attempt accomplishing those goals or carry out their plan.
Another aspect of success is sacrifice. Most often if a person wants to accomplish a goal they have to give something up or sacrifice certain things in order to obtain that goal. So, is success really success if something has to be sacrificed in order to obtain success or accomplish that goal? I would think that whatever was given up or sacrificed would be less valued than the accomplished goal. Or to put it another way the payoff of the accomplished goal would have to be valued more than what was sacrificed. I will use an example; Student X and Student Y have an exam next week. Student X just wants to pass the exam so Student X goes to a concert and a party that weekend, Student X feels as though they studied enough during the week so no need to study on the weekend. Student Y wants an A on their exam so every opportunity Student Y gets they study, foregoing, parties, concerts, and all other social activities. Student Y gets an A and Student X passes. The pay off for student Y was greater than the sacrifice made.
Success varies in regard to value. Some people value quantity where as others may appreciate quantity. It may be the same with success. Success is a relative term. One persons idea of success may be accomplishing one lifelong goal where as another person’s goal is to accomplish a series of goals and continue setting more and more goals. Success varies from person to person. Everybody doesn’t have the same idea of success.
I encourage anybody out there who has goals for their future and wants to accomplish those goals to be honest and determine what is really important. Is it important to have a nice house and car with designer clothes or is it important to leave a mark on the world while inhabiting it so that future generations can benefit from it. There is no wrong answer. You may want to become an entrepreneur, learn how to play a musical instrument, become a screenplay writer; the possibilities are endless. The most important is that you stick to them and want to attain those goals for the right reasons. Success is a state of mind.
