I lifted up Hortensia's pot to check to see how much of the bottom was saturated after watering, and four teeny tiny roly poly-shaped motherfuckers scurried away off the drainage plate before I could get a decent photo 😠

Is that a spider mite?

I’ve determined that it’s a Clover mite! A bit different, but still a mite. I’m not sure if it can manage to suck any plant juices with succulents being so thick skinned, usually they’re on clover and grasses. I’ll be monitoring them, see if any more show up.

I've considered myself very lucky so far not to have encountered any succulent pests but it appears my luck has run out! My Echeveria 'Black Knight' (specifically the one I planted in the big black cube) has been looking very sad and losing leaves and I couldn't figure out why until I took a look into the center of the rosette. Definitely mealybugs! I gave it and its sibling a little bath with rubbing alcohol and they're now quarantined on the other side of my apartment until further notice. I'm gonna be keeping an eye on the other plants but I haven't noticed any of the others showing symptoms. Fingers crossed!

After spraying with alcohol to get rid of some mealybugs my E. Shaviana turned a bit pink! I’m not worried about it, but thought it was interesting to note.

It’s official everyone, I’ve got mealy bugs. :(

And possibly spider mites. 

I’ll have to go on the full offensive to eradicate them all.
