Stand Up Comedy Qatar Movember Event
A lot of laughter and a little bit of strip tease took place in Hamed Bin Khalifa University's student center, but all for a good cause, #Climb4PCRF.
SUCQ's Movember comedy show kick-started with a rock performance, followed by a myriad of multinational comedians who did different hilarious sketches.
An awesome rock sketch by Adam
Our host, an influencer and aspiring cars salesman, Bilal Randeree
Dreadlocks and a beard combination, Alaa Jazmati
"I came to Qatar because I was told winter here is like summer, I forgot to ask what summer is like " - J Du Sel
Excessive show of skin to prove the Lebanese blood was present at the show, Osama Itani
more Lebanese, co-host for the night , Roland Haddad
"Wasta Wasta what's it all about" Waheed and Salim
Parenting expert, Mohamed Khateeb
A wizar strip tease, Subeer
The best part of the show was the cause these guys were supporting: all the proceeds of the show went to #Climb4PCRF . Climb 4 PCRF is a courageous group comprised of 6 girls and one guy who are determined to climb Kilimanjaro (yes the mountain) to raise funds for The Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF).
It was an entertaining cocktail of comedy that produced non-stop laughs from the audience, and all for a good cause. We shall be attending more SUCQ events.

Here's a teaser for an upcoming documentary about Qatar's burgeoning comedy scene.
Director Mohanalakshmi Rajakumar explains:
For the past two years, a group of aspiring comics has been gathering. As their numbers increase, Standup Comedy Qatar, or SUCQ (pronounced "suck") has evolved from performing shows in auditoriums and coffee shops to the glamorous Bistro 61 in Al Fardan towers.
Experience the journey of these students, broadcasters, and salesmen as they work for that elusive laugh. From the high gained from hearty applause and the pain evoked by dead silence, Laughing with an Accent will take you through Qatar's burgeoning comedy scene.
The short documentary offers a 360-degree inside look at what it takes to be funny and how this definition changes.
"No one can quite believe there are comics here, in Qatar, given the cultural considerations of the Middle East and the context of Western comedic styles. But SUCQ persists and audiences are responding."
Can comedy in the heart of the Gulf be funny? See for yourself.
Thoughts?
Homegrown comedy group SUCQ (pronounced "suck") is back with a new show on Thursday night at Bistro 61 in Al Fardan Towers, West Bay.
Their last show in May featured the debut of Qatari comedian Hamad Al Amari, whose confusing accents and willingness to poke fun at local cultural idiosyncrasies can be witnessed in the video above.
What do you think of the routine?
If you like it, you can catch him and others from across the politically incorrect spectrum at the next show. Tickets are 35 QAR, with an option light dinner for 25 QAR.
“It’s about the tradition here and the culture. I’m trying to take it step by step. We’re not used to laughing at ourselves.”
-Stand Up Comedy Qatar's Mohammed Fahad Kamal, on the unofficial rules of comedy in Qatar
Mohana Lakshmi Rajakumar performs at Stand Up Comedy Qatar last week on what it's like to be Indian and American.
Hilarious!
