I've just been listening to I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen.
To begin with it struck me as a Taka/Suela song, but as I listened I started to think it was Anaka/Raikun as well? But for very different reasons.
The whole being a slave to her thing, that is Taka. Suela is 100% in his head and she's the only person in the world who can make him do literally anything. He is completely blinded by her, and the lust he has for her is unreal. He craves her, he never tires of her. She is a drug and he is completely hooked. However, he doesn't like being this way. He doesn't like the idea that someone could control him or make him so weak, and so he very much denies his feelings for her for as long as he possibly can, because he takes no enjoyment from the manipulation or his inability to turn away from her. He acknowledges that he's fond of her, and he acknowledges that he's attracted to her and close to her, but true and utter devotion, to the point where he's not in control of himself? No. No, of course not!
Raikun, however... the song is him because of the worship and devotion thing. Raikun is completely in awe of Anaka and loves her with all his heart, but he isn't ashamed of his feelings. Actually, he embraces them. He is very proud of his wife and enjoys showing her off. He is open about his admiration for her and he is willing to admit what a weakling she makes of him. She is in control of his life and soul, but unlike Taka, he is completely fine with it. Raikun would quite literally fall to Anaka's feet and worship her. He would beg her, howl at her window, claw at her sheet... He would make a fool of himself to express his devotion, and he would have absolutely no shame about it.
So... I think on the face of it, it's probably more of a Raikun/Anaka song, but in a dark manipulation sort of way it's Taka/Suela as well.
Either way... I love this song ❤ And both boys would perform it exquisitely 😘
Taka-Suela short
He sat beside her. He didn’t look at her. He was angry. Too angry to meet her eyes. Everything she had done to him, everything she had done to their children, to their lives… it all came flooding back, the moment she stood before him. He became too angry to even speak. Too angry to cut open her throat like he wanted to. Too angry to break her bones like he wanted to. Too angry to scream at her, and tell her what torment he had been in since the day she had gone. Since the day she had humiliated him, and their children. Since the day she had abandoned their children. Knowingly, and willingly… They hated her. He hated her. Because of her. Because of what she had done. What she had chosen to do, without even the grace of telling him. She had chosen to spoil his name, and their children’s’ names. He could never forgive her. He had spent years cursing her, regretting her, resenting her… wishing he could see her again, just so that he could end her life himself. Watch her suffer, and bleed… All he wanted to do was harm her. His anger disabled him, but he battled through it. He exhaled himself calm, and he turned his head to look at her… Taka’s eyes met Suela’s, and he spoke the truth that had destroyed his soul.
“I loved you.”
