Even though the triggers have been deprogrammed and extracted, he still feels...wrong, deep inside. The trauma, the pain, the fear and rage, it’s all still there buried within. He isn’t necessarily Bucky anymore, the idiot kid who left New York after the Stark Expo. But he absolutely, positively isn’t the Winter Soldier. Never, ever again the Winter Soldier. But he’s...definitely someone.

He’d  been  one  of  the  lucky  ones,  even  after  taking  all  the  time  to  recover  from  the  snap  he  had  his  family  still.  Tony  hadn’t  lost,  he’d  won.  Wanda  on  the  other  hand  had  briefly  died  like  some  of  the  others  and  even  after  being  brought  back  she  was  still  without  her  brother  and  the  rest  of  her  family  because  they’d  been  gone  long  before.  Vision  was  gone  too,  they  couldn’t  get  him  back.  

Tony  rested  against  the  doorway,  his  arms  crossed  against  his  chest  as  he  looked  over  towards  Wanda.          “ Hey,  you  doing  okay? ”       Rebuilding  the  compound  would  take  a  lot  of  work,  but  Tony  figured  it  might  be  time  to  hang  up  the  suits.             “ I’ve  been  a  little  worried  about  you. ”

“I have one question.” Rhodes said simply as he approached Wanda in the Avengers compound. He just got back from a mission to overhear someone talking about the newest addition to the team, or well one of the newest. He was for all intents and purposes very, very confused and concerned by it, because in certain ways, it could be dangerous, which  why he chose to talk to her.

“Why do some here refer to you as being a ‘kid’? You are off age, aren’t you?”

Nevertheless, magick glows at his fingertips while he watches her, head tilting to the side.

𝙰𝙸𝙽'𝚃 𝚃𝙷𝙰𝚃 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙼𝙾𝚂𝚃 𝙿𝙰𝙸𝙽𝙵𝚄𝙻 𝚃𝚁𝚄𝚃𝙷. he has a long bloody list of sins he needs to pay penance for, a scoff comes through the sorcerer, a hand lighting up his smoke with his finger as eyes settle on the woman. “Then again, penance serves nothin’. We puny mortals fight for the Almighty to love us but he doesn’t. He couldn’t care less.” Bitterness runs through as the smoke burns his throat, an exhale as he gazes above at the black sky and then, back to Wanda. “Penance is only for your own soul. To clear guilty conscience.”

after everything they’d been through as a team and as individuals, tony hated to have to drag his friends back into the mess that had been left behind. but they all had a part to play, they all had jobs and sometimes, only sometimes it didn’t feel all that bad. 

now that thanos was gone, tony was attempting to get what was left of shield back together to try and start over - to try and do better. the building was in ruins, it had to be rebuilt and while he had the funds to do that he then needed a team to keep it going. he knew he was asking a lot from a lot of people. but he didn’t know who else to ask - they knew the avengers best, since they... were the avengers. 

‘ i wouldn’t ask if i had another choice, i know it’s a lot. especially after everything that happened. but i could do with some help getting this place running again - what do you say?  ’
