Me, babysitting, wearing a Kylo Ren mask: *takes a sip of water*
4 y/o, being babysat, wearing a full Batman costume: Kylo Ren doesn't drink water.
Me: Oh yeah? What does he drink?
4 y/o: Juice.
Me: Juice huh?
4 y/o: Yes. Kylo Ren only drinks juice.

Okay Tumblr, we've talked about how to help someone if they're having a panic attack, but what about if they have a sugar crash
This actually happens a lot to some people. From personal experience, it's scary. Your head hurts, you start to sweat a lot, your vision starts to fade, and usually, you lose the ability to stand on your feet. So, how do we help someone who is having a sugar crash? Well, for starters, Sit them down. Because they could possibly lose their ability to stand, make sure that they're sitting. They'll know if their legs become weak Next, find. Food. Not just any food, sugary food. OR A DRINK! Soda that has sugar in it WILL help! Because their sugar is crashing, they will need to have more sugar to get it back. DONT GO OVERBOARD THOUGH! If you give them too much sugar, it could raise to high and also have negative affects. Just try to get their blood sugar back to normal. You don't always need to test their blood sugar, but if you can, it can help to know how much sugar they'll need to get back to an average level. Another thing that can happen, is they pass out. On numerous occasions, I've [almost] passed out from a sugar crash. One thing that can help this, is keeping their senses active. After you give them food, try to talk to them softly and maybe rub their arm (ONLY USE PHYSICAL CONTACT IF YOU KNOW THEM WELL AND THEY'RE OKAT WITH IT!). This can and usually will help to keep them from shutting down entirely. Once their sugar is back up, let them rest for a few minutes because they did just almost pass out from a crash in something important to their body. After a few minutes, asking they're ready to stand up. If they are, help them up, their legs could potentially still be weak. When getting them food or a drink, if you're out in public, find a venue that sells food and explain why it is urgent, try to find somewhere without a line that is nearby. Explain that you need food/drink right away and why. If they understand, they should quickly ring you up. If they take a long time, rush them, or insist on paying them as soon as you are done helping someone. (Hopefully you don't have to do this as this can look like stealing) If you're at home, grab whatever you can with sugar immediately. Here's another tip! Always carry water. Especially on hot days cause this can affect anyone who has a sugar crash. Water will help get the person's system running normally again if you don't have much sugar. Maybe carry a flavor packet in your bag to add to the water if you must. To recap, if someone is having a sugar crash • sit them down • find sugary foods/drinks/water - to obtain this in public, find somewhere with food and explain why it is urgent and you must have this as quickly as possible • speak to them • IF THEY'RE CLOSE TO YOU, keep their sense of touch in line by rubbing their arm/back or holding their hand • if you have a tester with you, you can check their blood sugar (not completely necessary unless extremely severe case) After their sugar has returned to normal, • let them rest • ask if they're ready to keep moving • help them up Tips for anyone who frequently has sugar crashes or for someone who knows someone who has them: • carry water around • carry one or two flavor packets to mix with water Sugar crashes are actually very serious. It happens to me all the time, and it can happen to anyone. If your sugar gets too high, it can potentially crash and this should be taken seriously. If I left ANYTHING off, please add. I'm not a doctor, so I probably am missing a lot of good info. Anything I may have wrong should be correct, so let me know if I have anything wrong and I'll fix it. These are just some of the things that happen when I experience my sugar crashing, so if there's anything else, please feel free to add it. I don't see information on this enough, so I just thought I'd put it out there in the case that it happens to you or someone you know.
