Tom riddle/ tomarry headcanons. 3,2,1… GO!!
Okay these are very odd and random and extremely self indulgent
He is ambidextrous. He was primarily left handed, but I like to think that because of the era he lived in, he was forced to learn how to use his right hand because left hand = evil (???) So yeah, he can write and use both of his hands perfectly, but his wand hand is left :)
Tom has sweaty hands. Or more like he had sweaty hands. It bothered him a lot as a child, he isn't an anxious person, he doesn't sweat that easily, so why the fuck are his hands always wet? It drove him insane because he always thought of himself as above everyone, but his hands, though rather gorgeous, always made him feel gross. As soon as he got at hogwarts, he tried to research a way to fix it. He couldn't find anything, so shyly (read reluctantly) one day he asked the matron of the hospital wing and she happily fixed his hands.
He was hopeful about getting adopted until he was about 7 years old, because again, he was superior in every way possible. What did the other kids have that he didn't? He was better at everything. But he never got picked. Eventually he just thought to himself that getting adopted wouldn't be all that great anyway. Not because he truly believed it no, but rather, what was even the point? He left feeling disappointed each time. He was met with rejection, no matter how good he was, being good wasn't rewarding, it achieved nothing.
He has a sweet tooth. For all he likes to pretend he doesn't like sugar because he's an edgy dark lord and all, when alone, the amount of sweet Tom consumes would leave people feeling concerned and sick probably. I like to think growing up Tom wouldn't have had access to a lot of sweet, and it was a rare indulgence. But once at hogwarts, where he could eat whatever he liked, he often found himself disctreely smuggling sweet treats to eat later away from prying eyes. Sort of like a guilty pleasure.
I got this from Venom and Valor by @lightningant but the image of baby Tom with a concentrated look on his face, trying to get used to using a quill and copying the penmanship of his classmates to improve his own, is simply too adorable and makes me feel things. So ofcourse, its become one of my favorite headcanons.
Tom Riddle to me, has some serious self loathing problems. Ofcourse it's not a conscious series of thoughts. Instead, its reflected through his actions. He mutilates his soul because he's scared. He blends in with the purebloods in his house, his death eaters don't know he is a half blood, because he's deeply insecure. He mutilates himself, and thinks he's above everyone else, when the reality is quite pathetic. So yeah, I love to think that he has self hatred.
