These Christmas Sugar Cookies are the perfect festive holiday treat. They are buttery, soft, and delightfully sweet, making them popular with both children and adults. Decorate them with colorful sprinkles or sugar to add a festive touch!
Ingredients: 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon baking soda. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. 3-4 tablespoons buttermilk. Sprinkles or colored sugar for decoration.
Instructions: Mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder together in a medium-sized bowl using a whisk. Put away. Make the butter and sugar smooth and creamy by beating them together in a large bowl. Mix the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract into the butter mixture. Beat the mixture until everything is well mixed. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ones one at a time, mixing after each addition. Add a tablespoon of buttermilk at a time until the dough comes together if it's too dry. Split the dough in half, make two discs out of it, and wrap each one in plastic wrap. Put the dough in the fridge for at least two hours or overnight. Warm your oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on baking sheets. Spread out one disc of dough on a floured surface until it's about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out the shapes you want with cookie cutters, then move them to the baking sheets that have been prepared. Get the rest of the scraps, roll them out again, and cut more cookies. Put colored sugar or sprinkles on the cookies carefully if you want to use them. For 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden, bake the cookies. For a few minutes, let the cookies cool on the baking sheets before moving them to wire racks to cool all the way. If you want, you can decorate the cookies with icing or frosting after they have cooled. Have a great time with these sweet Christmas cookies!
