her husband had left earlier that day and would be gone for a few days at least. opportunities like this didn’t arise that often and when they did they surely took advantage of it. it was extremely difficult, not just deceiving two people but deceiving an entire court of people - living with nothing but stolen glances for days at a time. it was almost cruel. while his wife was still here, as she always was, she was hoping he’d be able to get away tonight and come to her. she’d been counting on it. the hours crept by and she wondered if he’d be coming at all ... she’d nearly given up on waiting when her chamber door opened. a smile formed on her lips as she moved away from the window. “ it’s late, ” she spoke softly, “ i almost thought you’d forgotten about me. ” @sugardrunk
