Summary: Reader is scared to jump off the cliff but Harry assures her that he’s got her.

Pairing: Harry Styles x fem!reader 

Word Count: This bish short. 100+ words

“I can’t do this” Y/n groaned as she peered over the intimidating edge and into the dubious waters below.

“Yes, you can!” Y/n glanced beside her to find Harry’s chin perched on her shoulder with a teasing glint in his eye. “C’mon love, it’s really not that far down, I promise you.” His words of encouragement were followed by a form that a diver would make. Putting his two palms together, he simulated a running start while accentuating the movement in his shoulders, making it seem as though he was about to do a full head dive. “And just like that, you’ll be in the water before you know it!” 

Finally looking up from the edge, y/n stared at the empty space in front of her before starting to shake. She forced a gulp down her throat as she clenched her eyes shut trying to maintain her breathing. In..hold..out. In..hold..out. 

She was still shaking when she felt a warm hand clasp onto hers. Eyes darting to the interlocked bond, her head rose slightly to meet his eyes. A soft encouraging squeeze sent chills up her arm as Harry nodded his head in reassurance. 

“Don’t worry, I’ll be with you the whole way down.”

With a slight nod, y/n furrowed her brows as she let Harry gently pull her away from the edge to get a real running start. 

Filled with his own slight nerves, Harry starts bouncing up and down on his heels while shaking his hands. The movement causes y/n giggle, easing her anxieties as she was met with a quick peck on the lips. Pulling away he gives her a cheeky smile whispering “you ready?”

In a moment of mustered courage, she grinned saying “let’s do it.”

And before either could recognize the sudden rush of motions, their feet were lunging forwards, kicking off of the ground and leaping into suspended air. The winds rushing through their hairs made it feel as though they were flying, but Harry was right, y/n thought. The waters seemed fast approaching now, quickly the ends of their toes.

Their bodies plunged deep into the fall, completely enclosed in bubbles and the warmth of the sun. As y/n’s head broke above the water, a gasp escaped her lips. She began to look around for the curly haired boy, his name about to escape her when he appeared a mere 5 inches from her face along with a splash.

Y/n giggled as he whipped his hair around causing her hand to fly up as a shield from the sudden attack of watery beads. Harry chuckled before grabbing one of y/n’s legs and guiding it around his hip. His arm wrapped itself around her waist as y/n’s hands found themselves around his neck, resting into his hair. Their giggles slowly died down until it mirrored the quiet waters around them.

After a moment Harry finally looked into y/n’s eyes with a slight raise of his eyebrow. “See..wasn't too bad was it?” he asked.

Y/n slightly shook her head letting a smile escape her. “Not at all.”

Harry’s joy radiated off of him in waves as he engulfed her in his loving embrace. He pressed another soft kiss onto her lips, this time slightly sucking on the bottom of her lip. It felt like heaven but was cut short when they had to part due to shortness of breath. They sat in the silence again before a thought, more like a question popped into Harry’s head.

He glances at y/n before softly asking “why do you think that was?”

She hums thoughtfully, shifting her eyes slightly to avoid his gaze. Understanding what Harry meant, (y/n) turned to stare off thoughtfully into the water before stating simply “I wasn’t alone.”

It didn’t mean to sound like a sad statement, he knew that, but nevertheless, Harry slowly lifted her chin to look into her eyes. He raised his hand to cup the side of her face, gently stroking her cheek with his thumb. Before much thought, he spoke with a steady tone saying “And unless you want to, you’ll never have to be alone again.”
