Pretty much just some fluff and self doubt 🥹
AN: I'm back!! I broke my phone and then went on a week trip, which disrupted my writing (how dare it). anyways here i am posting this because jake is a hottie who needs love.
That "sometime" comes sooner than later, and you're now waiting out front at a small café, eyes scanning for sight of Jake. When you turn back, you're met with the sight of him standing right in front of you; slightly shocking you, causing you to stumble. His hands reach out to support you, causing you to smile and gently tap his arms. "Thank you.. sorry, I must be a bit distracted today.." You chuckle awkwardly, Jake smiles. "I completely understand." He leans down to playfully whisper. "I'm a bit nervous too," his breath tickling the side of your neck with each word. You grin and shake your head before heading inside alongside Jake. He opens the door for you like a proper gentleman as you walk in. You state to him that his pant zipper is undone and his cheeks go red with embarrassment. Jake realizes he actually didn't and that you were just messing with him; he awkwardly chuckles, trying to downplay his embarrassment. "We should sit, don't wanna lose our table." You say, dragging Jake to your seats.
As the date progresses, you both learn alot about each other. Jake mentions his family and how he had 4 siblings growing up. It intrigues you. But what's the surprise there, everything about jake is intriguing. From his personality to his job to his family. He's different, important. Kind of everything you're not. See, it's not like you don't have a family, but you were always the useless one. Never really got good marks in school, and you never had an actually good job. Hell, you even moved to San Diego just for a job. Usually classed as lost potential, was it that you weren't smart though? Or that you never had the support you needed to succeed. "Having such a large family must've been rough" you state, he nods before responding. "Yeah, I suppose it was, but we all looked out for eachother. Had eachothers backs." You nod, a solemn smile on your face. "sounds nice."
By the time you know it. The date has ended, and you're walking down a coastline foot path. Enjoying eachothers company. He turns to you before starting. "Hey, I remember you telling me you weren't looking for a relationship. Any reason why? Not to be invasive or anything, just curious." You shrug before replying, "it's not like there's much of a specific reason. I just find being single easier, less stressful. And I just moved here, wanna settle in first." Jake nods, completely understanding. Yet still worried he'll never get a chance with me. Jake overthinks alot and always thinks every move is the wrong one, feeling like he can never truly express himself in a full sense. He's had 'girlfriends', but they were all casual. He doesn't know what an actual relationship is right and when he met you. It was like he found something he didn't in other women, and he still doesn't know what it is.
