So…I have a very strange 2003 Donnie fic idea despite never watching the show…. I will be spilling this all out because I’m not sure if I’ll ever write this- maybe snippets but ya know.
Somehow Donnie gets transported to a planet with a giant technologically advanced civilization taken over by nature. There are barely any people now as the old race had died out without warning or explanation.
In a far off mountain range Donnie finds a large castle still somehow running despite the years past. He decides to go inside and take a look at the castle’s controls and technology.
I have those scene in my head- so after a bit of tinkering he hits a bungle of torn and tangled wires, he tried to fix them but makes a mistake. He isn’t sure where to go from here but then- a soft red glow startles him from his work. It’s a small red and green light system hanging by him- he doesn’t even notice with how absorbed he is with the task at hand. With a sort of red light green light system he begins to communicate with the castle itself and begin to repair it.
As time goes on there are edible herbs and plans fresh from the ground around where he frequents the most tangled in wires and rusted parts. If he needs anything he finds it in the castle placed in odd areas. Donnie even notices that the indoor garden has started to bloom with purple flowers despite the planet being near void of the color. He gets closer to repairing the castle and making a portal home over the weeks he is trapped- but the instances only het odder and odder. Where ever he goes there are gifts ranging from materials he needs, to more purple flowers, to dead animals and edible plants.
He obviously gets paranoid and attempts to make safe boarded up rooms in the castle but, in the mornings he wakes up to them being improved upon or decorated in purple blooms.
It all comes to ahead when he attempts to leave fully, even willing to abandon the portal. Yet, every exit in the castle is locked up and whenever he tried to open the control panels of the castle they either shut…or wires come out to gently lead him to the garden. The kills grow larger, the plants more nutritious, and every flower an even brighter purple. Donnie, now thoroughly terrified, makes an escape plan.
He pretends to relax within the walls and accept his position in the castle. The castle gets bolder with its affections and wires can often be seen handing Donnie gifts directly. The castle scans him often and records every change in a hollow imitation or adoration. Eventually Donnie begins to discover more about the castle’s past and what happened to the race before the current one.
In the end of long winded stories and carefully detailed records of the past Donnie discovers that this planet is completely man made, but the race that built it destroyed themselves from the inside out. The AI installed within the planet was made to imitate human nature, but as it was made to carry out more and more heinous tasks on both sides of the war- it broke. The planet absorbed the very people who made it, their thoughts and feelings and brain matter to cobble together a human consciousness, or at least something like it.
Donnie is- of course- absolutely fucking terrified and comes to the realization that there was nowhere to run where this castle couldn’t find him. It controls all. Donnie’s only hope lies with his brothers.
Im really debating on how it would branch out from here. Like would Donnie teach this being how real mortal affection works? Teach this being born of progression turned war machine that it can still be that symbol of hope? Will he fall for this vast being of technology with a brain of stitched flesh in place of its heart? (No, he will not. But they could be friends!)
Or, will I lean into the visceral horror of a being whose power runs through the very ground you walk on; being hopelessly in live with you? Or at least, what it believes is love from the thousands it’s killed to comprehend such a concept. Will it be still be kind when it learns Donnie has been fooling it? What is punishment? In metal, blood drenched hands? Will Donnie loose hope?
Will his brothers even be able to save him?
If you see any spelling mistakes…no you don’t.
