[burst from deep water, gasping. can you move your fingers? can you open your eyes? you've been gone a long time.]
[you can't be lost. you know this path, you carry it inside you like the nerve endings that pulse lightning through your brain, so familiar you know it without knowing. so, why can't you remember where to go next?]
You try not to let it wither. But your hands are shaking. You try not to let it break. But your knees are about to give out. You try not to give up. But your body cannot bring you home
sinking within the stars' embrace. relaxing and letting the tendrils of machinery bore through your skull and pull you out of your body. sometimes you feel so lost without it, without this comforting detachment. sometimes you almost don't mind the pain of it.
As day turns to night
And moon over head shines bright
There is something eternal,
timeless to you
You will have to let it consume you.
You will have to die.
It will be scary but it will pass -- now look at your fingers withering away and the feathers falling out, let out the last breath
it will let you breathe in for the first time.
Careful now, you're slipping
Suppose I am hard to read, given you can only see my eyes. Yes, I know a lot of people find it creepy. That's expected.
But, like I've said before, I have my reasons. I can't take off my mask around you. It's a safety thing, you understand. To protect both you and me.
