Today I found a book on men's fashion among the books removed from our city library's collections. It's actually quite interesting and I of course have been googling stuff related to it all evening. What I have realized is that the reason I tend to find men's suits rather stupid-looking is simply because 1) they are two-piece and not three-piece suits and 2) the suit trousers often are slim fit with no break or with negative break. Three-piece suits in which the trousers are straight or classic fit with full or half break do look good, just think about what Penn and Teller wear, for example. Anyway, I don't know why the length and fit of the trousers have changed but the reason for two-piece suits being the norm these days is that office buildings are better heated than they used to be before second world war and a three-piece suit can be too warm to be worn indoors
