ALBUMS OF THE WEEK! These are the nine albums that got the most plays out of me. I’m so excited about this entry that I got up early to write it, as there is some awesome stuff here. The clear winner was Sanguisugabogg’s Tortured Whole (released yesterday). This is filthy death metal with extra gurgly vocals and a psychedelic sense of humor. Blasting this one is an absolute delight. Speaking of gurgly vocals, Wicked Innocence’s Omnipotence is here with a technical death metal album from 1995 that has aged like wine. This band was way ahead of its time. My band discovery of the week is definitely Wode, a UK-based black metal band that instantly caught my attention and affection. Wode fits nicely in that place in my heart typically reserved for Tribulation, Cloak, Slaegt, and maybe Dissection. I hadn’t heard of Wode last Saturday; today I own their entire discography (new album comes out next week!). Finally, I discovered Vermineux, a Minenwerfer side project that is based on medieval wars and scratches that underground black metal itch. ☠️ 1. Sanguisugabogg - Tortured Whole (2021) 2.
