Suminagashi Marbling

Using ink, washing-up liquid and water, I was able to create a variety of marble patterns.

I found that different types of paper created reacted to the ink differently. I found that the coated thicker paper made the pattern distorted and it was easier for the ink to move and smudge making the pattern blurry. The thinner uncoated paper was better at absorbing the ink stopping it from moving once it had been removed from the water. However, the thinner paper did create a grainy texture from where the paper had been submerged in the water.
