Trip to The Pace Gallery - 7.19.17
“ The opening structure looks a lot like a chandelier and had me transfixed for about ten minutes because sparkles…just standing there trying to get the perfect angle…to snap my camera at right time to get the lights before they flicker and fade into the next sequence. My pictures don’t do it justice. I walk past the light to what I hope is another exhibit and yes there is more. The next room is pitch black upon entrance. However you’ll soon realize that the only light is sourced solely from the cosmic panels on the wall that favor the Milky Way. My flash accidentally goes off but thankfully I’m not scolded harshly. I lose track of time in this room. Completely mesmerized…”

Lygia Pape’s “A Multitude of Forms” (On Display: March 21- July 23, 2017
The elevator doors opened on the third floor exposing a large poster of children’s heads. In bright yellow, the then unfamiliar name “Lygia Pape” boldly stands out against the gray background. As I turn my head to the left, the first thing to catch my eye is a furry red coffee table with breasts…Its at this moment, I’m no longer sure of what too expect…Khai and I walk over to get a better look. To the immediate left there several metal sculptures jutting from the wall. Now that we’re up close and personal, the furry red breasted table is comical. The room opens up to a bright display featuring wooden cutouts placed strategically against the wall and numerous bowls of red, blue ,green and yellow water on the floor. Colorful. Thats the only word to describe what Ms.Pape has going on here. To the right there are trinkets and books encased under glass. Paper and metal and hues and textures all flow together with reservation. She is the definition of the Concretism she practiced…
