The Phoebe Philo effect. Rewearing my old 2019 Ellery "Bauhaus" dress, which I didn't for years (will change that), this time over pants.

Summer Layering
Ph: Beyond Fabric
Summer layering
Layers aren't just for winter. It's about how you wear it, not what you wear. The key is to drape fabrics while leaving a peek of unpresumptuous skin to show. It goes without saying that fabrics such as leather, wool, and knits should be avoided. Opt for light cottons, silk, linen, and rayon; these materials are fairly lightweight and breathable.
Jewelry with an array of colors, textures and patterns can liven up or add some style to casual summer wear. Keep an open mind and throw out the rules, sometimes it's best to just pile on what you love. Match delicate chains to chunky necklaces. Necklaces should lie at different lengths, so each layer makes a statement. Jewelry is an expression of your personal style, which means the more you experiment; the more comfortable you are with creating your own look.
Hiding Infants
Trial and error, my friends. This entire merry-go-round is one big game of trial and error. You make a mistake, and for the next lap around, God-willing, you do it better.
Lighten up, I'm just talking about my shirt! I fell in love with this French Connection yellow tank at a thrift store down here in NC, and was drawn to its over-saturation like a mosquito to my pale legs.
However, as I need my bike to get anywhere, I also realized that this tank requires me to pull up the straps every 1/2 mile whilst biking to prevent 100% total flashing. Literally, to my horror, every 4 minutes my bra was hanging out.
That's the thing with bikes, as much as you try to sit up and look pretty, you normally end up sweating, hunched over with your shirt falling down, bouncing around on uneven gravel. Not my finest moment.
But! Back around we go and I got a second chance to do this one right. Friends, meet my maternity lace shirt:
I use the term "maternity" loosely as this is clearly not a maternity shirt, but it tends to make me look like I could be hiding infants in that general area.
Oh well, who said everything has to be slimming?
Am I trying to go through my entire life maximizing my chances of fitting in narrow spaces?
Obviously not.
This shirt was gifted to me and it is perfect for summer layering. It ups your coverage without adding another sweat factor.
And with its transparency, it also lends itself as being a fantastic scarf. I just throw my head through the neck hole and drape (pictures to follow as soon as it is seasonally acceptable to start wearing scarves again).
Worn here with my army-green Levi mompantz capris and (what else?) my trusty blue/white wedges.
XOXO Kris.
