June Painting Release 4- Xilia
So, I did know someone named Xilia when I was living in Portland. A quirky artist-type. She had a wealthy German grandma who may or may not have killed her late husband. This story was one of Xilia's tamest. I guess you could say that this painting was inspired by her. By Xilia, not her grandma. June Painting Release 3- Claire
Claire... coincidentally (or not coincidentally) the name of my voice teacher in Portland... She was nice, but I can't help feeling like I never learned anything from her. I learned a lot from this painting, though. She was the first one I painted that I truly fell in love with. When I would bring paintings to display at shows, I would always bring this one. She has been a good friend to me. You can tell by looking at her that she's a solid friend... and that she doesn't take any s@#&! She has the stoic beauty of an Italian fresco painting, albeit from a much more psychedelic time. She has clouds in her eyes and seems a bit worried. Is she about to cry or is she bravely shouldering the worries of the whole world so that we all have a little less to worry about?
