Plant of the Day
Sunday 23 July 2017
The seed heads of Allium cristophii (star of Persia) are still providing display value in the border. Earlier in the season there were huge globes of small star-shaped, pinkish-purple flowers with a metallic sheen. They are ideal for a sunny site, dotted in small groups among ornamental grasses, or as part of a Mediterranean scheme. Here they were part of the display at Fullers Mill, Suffolk, UK.
