Splashtail sucks so bad as a villain. The way the Erins make their first villains who haven’t been evil outsiders into godless heathens who force their clanmates to fight and cackle when lying about getting starclan’s nine lives removes any excitement I might have had about him and Curlfeather.
I personally love Splashtail sorry! I think he’s great. And Curlfeather too. (Edit: this kind of turned into a little bit me gushing about them so if you don’t want to see that skip to the last paragraph)
I love how Curlfeather tried to manipulate an apprentice into being her follower but instead she ended up making a monster. I think Curlfeather only killed as she saw absolutely necessary for her plan and probably would have stopped with just Reedwhisker and maybe anyone who found out the truth later down the line.
And then Splashtail is young, inexperienced, naive, but also has been radicalised by Curlfeather and become more extreme than she ever was. He’s running mostly on luck and that soon will run out for him I think now he’s acting more arrogant and more extreme in front of his clanmates. I saw a post a week or two ago saying about how Splashtail is trying to emulate being Curlfeather and her plan but lacking her experience, her bonds etc and so now he’s flailing, just doing what he thinks she would do but with little understanding of, well everything that she had going for her.
He’s a really young warrior. I’m pretty sure he and Swiftpaw (at time of death) are about the same age. He’s in way over his head but doesn’t realise it, and is giddy with arrogance and ambition as a result. He cackles in the face of StarClan because he thinks he’s won and he’s on top of the world and he has fooled everyone that matters, he makes his clanmates fight because now he has the means to take revenge on a wrong without fully thinking out the consequences of logistics of such a move.
That’s just my opinion, I love him, but I do also get why you don’t, I can definitely see how this approach doesn’t work for other people, particularly with the motivations of the two making it look like this arc is going to give us the message of “StarClan is perfect”, and with just how young Splashtail is as well as how he acts, I feel that kind of thing either works for you or doesn’t.
