something old, something new.

I go through bouts of making peace with what will be happening in three days, and then soon thereafter return to my usual pit of terror and anxiety. You. Leaving? How could you? But also, how could you not?

I think that you and I both need the time to grow a little bit. Grow amongst some needed space. It's too much space, there's no doubt about that. But maybe you'll come back with new ideas and a keener ear. And maybe I'll have more patience. Maybe by then, I'll have that tattoo that I want.

You, in a seaside Spanish town, in the winter. Your sweet neck wrapped in a vintage designer scarf, and your pink nose glistening in the early morning light. I can romanticize you so easily. Myself, long hair and vagabond mules. We are a pair, aren't we?

Even as we cry these days, I think that we both know that what we have had has been effortless. You draw the emotion so gracefully out of me. Our tears have melded together. Through the beams of afternoon light in my studio, we giggled and cried and then giggled some more. You occupy such a beautiful spot in my heart.
