Ray Bolger's performance for the character of the Scarecrow in the 1939 movie, at the exact moment he shouts "Hurray! We're off to see a wizard!" and trips, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC5Tsy6mFzs
reminded me of Ariel, the little mermaid when she falls on Prince Eric as she learns how to walk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNrM6Mqnb2c
And this idea combined by the info that in the book, The Scarecrow is only 2 days old when he meets Dorothy and that he trips a lot, reminded me so much of a human child learning how to walk.
In this Legends of Oz fan art, Dorothy teaches the Scarecrow how to walk when she gets him down from his pole, but the poor creature doesn't know how yet. ANd Dorothy becomes his teacher. At first he was scared and closed his eyes since his legs are so wobbly at first and he trips, but Dorothy encourages him to open his eyes and let her guide him. So he peeks with one eye open before fully truting her. She won't let go until he finds his balance.

I was at the movie theatre the other day and had to snap a pic of this illustration for the Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return.
TO BE FAIR, it's not being produced by Disney. But lmao like... how many lead female characters with near-identical faces need to exist before someone starts getting a little creative??
edit: in case this ISN'T CLEAR: I'm referring to all their faces looking like they came out of the same jello mold. This does relate to race to an extent, but it's mostly commentary on how women don't all have identical faces yet are being animated this way (while men in the movies are not, so much).
(I think it's more obvious when you watch the trailer, which is in the link below. It looks like basically a nice but forgettable sequel-ish type movie...)
more info about this movie
Dorothy of Oz Teaser Trailer, from Summertime Entertainment. Not much is known about this film yet. According to Summertime Entertainment's website the film was completed in August 2012. IMDb simply cites 2013 as it's release date.
There is, however, a cast being advertised here in the trailer. Lea Michele as Dorothy, Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammer, Dan Aykroyd, Hugh Dancy, James Belushi, Martin Short, and Bernadette Peters are just a few of this mega cast.
It seems we'll have to wait till at least January before we see this film, though. We'll be keeping an eye out for upcoming info in the near future.
